Overview:

Fishy Love is a puzzle-platformer where you control two fish who are deeply in love as they explore an underwater world filled with puzzles, obstacles, enemies, and hidden dangers.

The main mechanic revolves around the fish's memory. When the two fish are together, they remember their love and can use abilities such as the Love Dash. When they move too far apart, they forget, which changes what abilities are available and forces the player to think carefully about when to separate them.

Sometimes the fish need to stay together to move through obstacles, while other situations require them to split apart to deal with enemies. This creates a constant back-and-forth between staying together, separating, and finding the right way to reunite.

The game was created around the themes "Stuck Together" and "Forget Me Not", using the relationship between the two fish as the foundation for both its gameplay and level design.

The goal was to make the relationship itself part of the gameplay, rather than just something represented through the story..

Project Design Goals:

  • Create a puzzle-platformer built around the relationship between two fish.

  • Use the memory mechanic to make staying together and separating meaningful gameplay choices.

  • Design puzzles that require players to switch between the two fish and find ways to reunite them.

  • Combine the “Stuck Together” and “Forget Me Not” themes directly with the core gameplay mechanics.

Detailed Info:

"Dive into the adventure of 'Fishy Love,' where you play as two adorable fish deeply in love, exploring a magical underwater world full of puzzles and obstacles. What makes this game special is that these fish have a unique memory twist – they only remember their love when they're swimming side by side. If they're separated, they forget all about it!

This memory challenge adds an exciting strategy element to the game. Sometimes you need to split them up to fight enemies, but other times, you'll want them together for a powerful dash move. It's all about figuring out the best way to navigate each level while keeping their love alive.

Players will need to use their brains and their hearts to solve puzzles and advance through the game, always remembering the memory limitations of their fishy friends. It's a charming and engaging journey through the deep blue sea!"
